I’m sad to have missed Justin Massey‘s performance of “9 Rhymes” last week – but check out this pic of him in action. More performances to come soon. Today, I’m off to San Diego for NWEAMO.
Upcoming Performances: Boston & San Diego
Some great things coming up in the next few weeks:
Saturday, March 11 : Justin Massey will be premiering my piece “9 Rhymes” for Tenor Saxophone & Electronics at the North American Saxophone Alliance Region 8 conference at Bridgewater State University. We’ve been working hard on this collaboration for the past half year or so, and are really excited to share it.
Saturday, March 18 : Presentation of my video piece “Marble Words” at the NWEAMO Festival in San Diego. I’ll be heading out there next week, and am really looking forward to attending the festival and visiting some friends.
Justin Massey @ the International Saxophone Symposium
I had a great weekend hanging out with my sis in snowy D.C. and with Justin Massey & Jason Charney at the U.S. Navy Band’s International Saxophone Symposium at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Justin premiered a work in progress sax solo of mine, and performed Jason’s killer “Scrap Metal.” Check out this little video and a few pics from my weekend:

Max Alper’s “Quad Clicker”
Had fun performing with Max Alper on his new handmade instrument “The Quad Clicker” at Muchmores last night. Great work by Doug Geers’ Interactive Computer Music class.
Miranda Cuckson
Fantastic concert last night by Miranda Cuckson! It was such an honor to have her interpret my music, and to have it alongside great pieces by Daniel Fox, Charles Rudig, Emerson Sudbury, Forrest Tang, and Matthew Thomas. Here are a few pics from the soundcheck.
Upcoming Performance: Miranda Cuckson in NYC
Tomorrow evening at Hunter College, the incredible Miranda Cuckson will perform my new piece Pole, Steam, Tree, Glass for violin & electronics. My piece will be alongside pieces by other CUNY composers, including Daniel Fox & Charles Rudig. From what I’ve seen in rehearsal, the pieces are thoughtful and adventurous, and the interpreting/performing will be excellent. Very excited.
Upcoming performance: Tokyo
My video “Marble Words” will be presented at the NWEAMO festival in Tokyo on Sunday, November 13, 2016 (So, to remind myself, 12am in NY) The festival is held at Koen Dori Classics on Saturday (7pm) & Sunday (2pm). Info here: NWEAMO / FACEBOOK / SAT / SUN / KOEN DORI CLASSICS / DIRECTIONS
